(b Northampton, 1928; d London, 1989). Eng. horn‐player and composer. Member of RPO 1953–55, Philharmonia Orch. 1955–66, then prin. hn. BBC SO 1966–88. Prof. of hn. RCM. Member of several chamber groups. Comp. sym. for brass and perc. (1950), wind quintet (1951), wind octet (1951), hn. trio (1952). OBE 1985.
