Biography

British cinematographer Alan Hume cut his teeth as a lighting director on numerous programmers during the 1960s, including many entries in the "Carry On" series. Hume got his start in film at age 17 as an apprentice cameraman. He became a cinematographer in the early '60s and by the 1980s, had begun shooting such major features as Caveman (1980), Return of the Jedi (1983), Shirley Valentine (1989) and A Fish Called Wanda (1989). ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide
