ALAXALA Networks develops, sells, and supports network routing and switching equipment that enables voice and data tranmission over large communications networks. The company's AX series of network switches is designed for metropolitan-area and backbone networks used by large corporations, telecommunications carriers, and government agencies. A joint venture between Hitachi (which owns 60%) and NEC (40%), ALAXALA Networks was formed in 2004 and began shipping products early the following year.
