Jenkins, Albert Gallatin (1830-64) Confederate army officer, born in Cabell County, Virginia (now West Virginia). Jenkins was the leader of a cavalry unit that initially engaged in raids in western Virginia and across the Ohio River (1861-63). Later, when the brigade was attached to the Army of Northern Virginia, the raids continued in Pennsylvania (1863) until the unit reached Gettysburg, where Jenkins was severely wounded. He died the following year from complications of a later wound, received in 1864.
