Mockel, Albert (1866-1945). Belgian poet and critic, Mockel founded in 1886 La Wallonie, which, in the seven years of its existence, became one of the major journals of the Symbolist movement. His Propos de littérature (1894) and Stéphane Mallarmé, un héros (1899) are among the most important critical writing produced by the younger Symbolist generation, and his early support helped to establish the reputations of Claudel and Verhaeren.
