Highway 11 is a major highway in central Alberta. It is known as the David Thompson Highway, and runs from Saskatchewan River Crossing in Banff National Park east through Nordegg, Rocky Mountain House and Red Deer until it connects with Highway 12, 20 km west of Stettler.

It intersects Highway 734 at Nordegg, Cowboy Trail at Rocky Mountain House, Queen Elizabeth II Highway, Highway 2A at Red Deer and Highway 21 near Alix.

It has recently been upgraded to a four-lane divided highway between the City of Red Deer and Highway 20 due to high traffic volumes between Red Deer and Sylvan Lake.

There are several spurs off of Highway 11 referred to as "Highway 11A". The include:

  • At the north end of Red Deer, Highway 11A starts as an extension to Township Road 390, crosses over Highway 2 and proceeds west for 15km. It intersects Highway 20 as a four-way stop and then enters into Sylvan Lake as 32nd Street, and then follows the southern part of the lake as Lake Shore Drive. The highway ends when it meets Highway 11 near the road leading to the hamlet of Benalto.
  • At Rocky Mountain House. The road starts at the junction of 60th Street and 52nd Avenue, and proceeds west across the North Saskatchewan River until it reaches Range Road 82.
  • North of the hamlet of Horburg. It begins at Highway 11 and proceeds south and follows the north shore of the North Saskatchewan River.
