Albine de Montholon (1779-1848) was reputed to be the mistress of Napoleon I during his final years of exile on Saint Helena and the wife of Charles Tristan, marquis de Montholon, Napoleon's devoted companion and confidant.
She was born Albine de Vassal. She was a cousin of Régis de Cambacérès. She stayed with Napoleon during his final years of exile on Saint Helena and may have had an illegitimate child, Hélène Napoleone Bonaparte, with him. Albine became pregnant on the way to Helena. As she had two partners at the time – her husband and Napoleon – it is unknown who conceived Hélène.[citation needed]
She was played by Elsa Zylberstein in the film Monsieur N.[1]
