Alchimia

Italian ‘New Wave’ co-operative design group (1976–91), founded in Milan by Alessandro Guerriero, Mendini, Sottsass, and others, also called Studio Alchymia. One of its aims was to make and market experimental designs, many of which employed eclecticism and historical styles, often ironically used. It rejected the principles of the Modern Movement, made clear by the whimsical Bau Haus collection exhibited in 1975.
