Alder is a fictional character in the The Pendragon Adventure series. He is the traveler from the territory Denduron. He appears in The Merchant of Death, The Rivers of Zadaa, The Pilgrims of Rayne, and "Raven Rise". He is described as being over six feet tall, and not handsome (Bobby claims that everything about him "seemed too big", and also states that he had "wide-spaced eyes"). He is clumsy, but also a great warrior with heightened senses and excellent skill at throwing knives, which is seen when he pins a snake to a wall in an underground cavern in "The Rivers of Zadaa". He is killed by two dados on Second Earth while trying to stop Alexander Naymeer at the end of "Raven Rise". He is last seen with the other Travelers in the last chapter of "Raven Rise".
His acolyte is a Milago woman from The Merchant of Death, whose husband was killed when the miners failed to obtain enough glaze to match his weight.
He is a very friendly person when he's not in battle. Many times Alder is seen giving someone a hug. He's the sort of person that everyone likes—even the rather serious Loor.
Alder helped Loor and her acolyte train Bobby to fight in The Rivers of Zadaa, and ended up getting shot with an arrow by a Rokador. This event helps Bobby learn more about being a traveler.
He plays an almost nonexistent role in the tenth book, as he only participates in the final battle and has a few lines. In the end he hugs Bobby and mentions him as a brother.
