Aleppo Governorate (Arabic: مُحافظة حَلَب‎) is one of the fourteen governorates of Syria. It is situated in northern Syria, bordering Turkey. It has an area depends of 18,482 km²[1], making up to 10% of the total area of Syria. The Governorate has a population of more than 5,000,000 (2008 estimate)[2]. The capital is the city of Aleppo (Halab). The leader is the Governor; Ahmad Ali Mansoura (since 2009).

Districts

The Governorate has 8 districts: Jabal Sam'an, Al Bab, Manbij, Afrin, Jarablus, A'zaz, 'Ayn al-'Arab and Al-Safirah. The districts are divided into 31 smaller counties; Nahiyeh. There are approximately 1453 villages in the governorate.
