A highly influential catalyst in much avant-garde Italian design, architect and design theorist Guerriero, with his sister Adriana, founded the Studio Alchimia in Milan in 1976, members of which included Alessandro Mendini, Andrea Branzi, Ettore Sottsass, and Paola Navone. In 1982 he was awarded the Compasso d'Oro for his research into design and was involved in the foundation of the Domus Academy in Milan. Other innovative projects have included the establishment of the Futurarium in Ravenna in 1995, a laboratory without disciplinary boundaries, the opening of a new studio, ‘Radiosity’, with Alberto Biagetti in late 1996, a new Benetton Museum with Alberto Toscani and the Casa della Felicità for the Alessi family at Omegna. His books have included Elogio del banale (Eulogy of the banal), Progetto infelice (Unhappy project), and Disegni alchimia (Alchimia designs).
