Alex Schoenauer (born May 5, 1976) is an Argentine American semi-retired professional mixed martial arts fighter. He last fought for the Los Angeles Anacondas of the International Fight League and resides in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Schoenauer was born in El Bolson, Argentina. At the age of 15, Alex left his native Argentina and moved to Idaho, where he lived with his grandfather and attended high school.[1] After graduating Alex moved onto college to study engineering. After graduating from Montana State with a degree in engineering, Schoenauer worked with a manufacturing company in Idaho. After a year, he decided to put his other training to work, which he gained at the United States Coast Guard Captains School, and worked as a captain of a private yacht, sailing as far north as Alaska and as deep south as Cabo San Lucas. While in Cabo San Lucas, Alex utilized his bilingual ability navigating the Sea of Cortez.
While attending Montana State his final year in college, Schoenauer began training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. In 2004, Alex moved to Las Vegas permanently vowing to give his new venture his full commitment. Once in Las Vegas, Alex met Sergio Pehena and started his professional career. Alex was in the opening season of The Ultimate Fighter 1 competing in a preliminary bout against Forrest Griffin the one time UFC light heavyweight champion. Alex received his brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Sergio Pehena and trains and teaches at Extreme Couture and Tapout Gym.
Outside the gym, Schoenauer is an avid outdoorsman. He enjoys fishing, hunting, scuba diving, river rafting and golfing. Recently he was on an episode of "One Man Army" on Discovery it aired on 07/27/11 he finished it second place.
