Alexander Fleming Middle School (FMS) is a middle school in Lomita, California, serving educational stages 6–8. Fleming is part of the Los Angeles Unified School District.
Fleming Middle School originally opened as Narbonne Junior and Senior High School In 1937. When the current Narbonne High School was opened, the school was renamed and became a junior high school. In 1957, the new Narbonne High school was built on the present site at 242nd Street and Western Avenue. Fleming's school colors are blue and white. The school's mascot is the Falcon.
Fleming is a science magnet and has increases in California Standardized Test (CST's) scores consistently over the past 8 years. Fleming also has a SAS or School of Advanced Studies allowing above average students to be academically challenged in a positive environment. Flemings' staff consists of professional medical practitioners, prior leaders in the defense contracting, numerous veterans from the U.S. Marines, Navy, and Air Force, as well as collegiate level athletes. After school tutoring focuses on mathematics and science, but is available for all subjects. Flemings' Running Club has participated in countless 5K's over the past five years.
