French Literature Companion:

Alexander Nequam

Alexander Nequam (d. 1217). A student of theology, medicine, and law at the University of Paris, he became an Augustinian canon at Cirencester (1197-1217). His De naturis rerum, a summation of contemporary knowledge on natural science, and his De nominibus utensilium, a treatise on technical instruments and their use, are only part of a prolific and versatile output.
