Moray, Alexander Stewart, 5th earl of [S] (1634-1701). Moray was a descendant of Regent Moray, himself an illegitimate son of James V. He rose to high office after the Restoration. From 1675 to 1676 he was justice-general [S], a lord of the Treasury in 1678, and served as secretary of state [S] from 1680 to 1689. He was deprived of all his offices after the Glorious Revolution.
