(b c1530-40; d Innsbruck, 7 May 1581). Netherlands composer. He served the Habsburgs, working at Prague (1564) and Innsbruck (1566), where he was vice-Kapellmeister. His music - motets (3 bks, 1571-7), penitential psalms (1570), masses (1573), responsories (1586) and German and French songs (1574) - is often richly scored and chromatic and sometimes polychoral.
