Education

Kerry graduated from Milton Academy and then studied anthropology and modern culture and media at Brown University where her focus was race relations. In 2004 she graduated from the directing program at the AFI Conservatory after receiving the Richard Rogers award for excellence in directing.[citation needed]

Career in acting and filmmaking

Her short film The Last Full Measure premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and won several awards at film festivals across the country. The film was in collection at The Lost Angeles County Museum of Art. She also raised significant controversy upon appearing on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival wearing a transparent dress which amply exposed her breasts.

Kerry directed the pilot of the hit MTV show "The Hills.[1]

She is a producer of the 2008 documentary film Be Like Others. She is currently producing a documentary based on Naomi Wolf's book The End of America: A Letter of Warning to a Young Patriot. She is also a producer for the documentary The Jena 6, about the 2007 racial trials of six black students in Louisiana.

Her book "Notes from the Trail" was released September of 2008. The book is a memoir and art book about the political process of elections.

Kerry previously served as the executive director at Tar Films and an editor of tar mag, a new arts and culture magazine which debuted in September 2008. She left shortly after the debut to focus on her producing and to join the strategies firm FD.

She was formerly a stage actress who worked in both film and tv. She had a minor acting role in the 2000 David Mamet film State and Main and she played a bartender in Mamet's 2004 film Spartan.

Expired registration

On November 19, 2009, Kerry was pulled over in Los Angeles, California, for an expired registration and was briefly under suspicion for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol. She had a Blood Alcohol Concentration of 0.06 percent which was below the legal limit of 0.08 percent. She was released immediately by the Los Angeles Police Department at their Hollywood Station. No charges are being filed. [2]

A spokeswoman for her father issued a statement saying, "I'm grateful that this ends a public episode we all wish had been avoided entirely or handled privately. Despite some speculation, my daughter was pulled over for an expired registration, not for erratic driving. A breathalyzer test at the police station revealed she was under the legal limit. She was released a short time later, not at 5:30 AM or after being held overnight as some reported. While she regrets driving with an expired registration, and takes full responsibility for it, that mistake should never have been compounded by erroneous reports suggesting she was driving drunk."
