Alexandrianism
Alexandrianism, the works and styles of the Alexandrian school of Greek poets in the Hellenistic age (323BCE –31 BCE), which included Callimachus, Apollonius Rhodius, and Theocritus. The Alexandrian style was marked by elaborate artificiality, obscure mythological allusion, and eroticism. It influenced Catullus and other Roman poets.
