Alexandru Zirra
(b Roman, 14 July 1883; d Sibiu, 23 March 1946). Romanian composer. A pupil of Gatti at the Milan Conservatory (1905-11), he taught at Iaşi and Cern&acaron;uti, establishing a reputation as a remarkable teacher. His works include nationalist operas and symphonic poems.
