Alexei Fadeyechev

Fadeyechev, Alexei (b Moscow, 16 Aug. 1960). Russian dancer and director. He studied at the Bolshoi Ballet School with Alexander Prokofiev, and graduated into the Bolshoi Ballet as a principal dancer, holding that position for twenty years. Under the coaching of his father Nikolai he developed a refined classical style and a dramatic stage presence and he performed most of the major roles in the repertory. He also guested with many companies, including Royal Ballet, Kirov, Royal Danish Ballet, Birmingham Royal Ballet, Boston Ballet, and Tokyo Ballet. Between 1998 and 2000 he was artistic director of the Bolshoi Ballet, mounting a critically acclaimed revival of Gorsky's 1900 version of Don Quixote in 1999.
