The Alfa Romeo Junior is a supermini expected to be launched by Italian automaker Alfa Romeo in the second quarter of 2008. The three-door hatchback will feature front-wheel drive and will be sold from approximately US$ 21,000 to compete with the MINI. Designed by Centro Stile Alfa Romeo, the design is believed to be inspired by the 8C Competizione. The Junior will feature low-displacement turbocharged petrol engines, with MultiAir variable valve timing technology and a maximum output range from around 100 to 230 bhp.
The car is meant to be reminiscent of the Alfasud, as indicated by the name. The Junior will be built on current Fiat Punto platform, also employed by the Opel Corsa. It is not known if it will be sold in the United States.
This is part of a European competition where the public have the chance to name the car. The winner from each country can win an Alfa Romeo Spider or a Alfa Romeo mountain bike. The overall winner has their chosen name put to this car.
