Biography

Alfredo (aka Alfredo Joaquin Fiorito) was working as a DJ in the mid-'80s when he first heard the sound of Chicago house; he began playing it immediately and then brought the style to London with fellow DJs Paul Oakenfold, Danny Rampling and others. Born in Argentina on April 20, 1953, Alfredo studied business, medicine and later philosophy in school. He worked as a journalist and concert promoter in the early '70s, but moved to the Mediterranean island of Ibiza in 1975, where he worked as a clothes-maker until he decided to become a DJ. A later move to mainland Spain and a job at the Amnesia club introduced him to house. His 1986 sets at London's Project Club mixed house with rare grooves, but it took years for England's clubbers to warm to the sound. ~ John Bush, Rovi
