Algaemia
Algaemia refers to the condition where green algae is found in the blood.
It has been observed in an immunocompetent patient after removal of a Hickman catheter.[1]
In cows, it has been observed to be caused by Prototheca blaschkeae.[2]
In humans, it has been observed to be caused by Prototheca wickerhamii.[3]
