ALK-Abelló is a leading producer of allergy vaccination pharmaceuticals. The company is the result of the merger of ALK-Abelló and the former holding company of Chr. Hansen, which makes natural ingredients for the food manufacturing, pharmaceutical, and agriculture industries. Chr. Hansen Holding sold its food ingredient business to PAI Partners in July 2005 for about $1.4 billion before merging with ALK-Abelló in 2005. Involved in the development of allergy vaccinations since 1923, ALK-Abelló is expanding its products to orally delivered vaccinations as well as subcutaneous vaccinations. It is developing natural allergens in tablet form to fight grass pollen and house dust mites.
