Alkali salts

Wikipedia: Alkali salts

Alkali salts or base (basic) salts are salts which have basic ions, such as hydroxide or carbonate.

Rather than being neutral, as most salt are, basic salts are, as their name suggests, bases.

The acidic equivalent of a basic salt is an acid salt, although unlike a basic salt, an acid salt is amphoteric, i.e. it can act as both acid and base.
