Allerød Kommune is a municipality (Danish, kommune) on the island of Zealand (Sjælland) in eastern Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 67 km², and has a total population of 23,493 (2008). Its mayor is Erik Lund, a member of the Conservative People's Party (Det Konservative Folkeparti) political party.
The main town, Lillerød, is also the site of the municipal council, and most people say 'Allerød'. Smaller towns inside the municipality are Blovstrød and the towns of Lynge and Uggeløse, which have grown together.
Neighboring municipalities are: Birkerød to the south, Hørsholm to the east, Karlebo and Hillerød to the north, Slangerup to the west, and Stenløse and Farum to the south-west.
Allerød municipality was not merged with other municipalities by January 1, 2007 as the result of nationwide Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007).
The warm period after the last ice age (Wisconsin glaciation) is named the Allerød Oscillation after an archaeological site found at Allerød.
In 1797 six Bronze Age lurs was found in Lynge at Brudevælte.

Famous Companies
Mungo Park is a small but very influential theatre, in the town centre.
Weibel Scientific is a privately held company with headquarters in Allerød. Weibel designs and manufactures continuous wave doppler radars. All of Weibel's radars are in the I band.
Sjælsø Gruppen is a publicly listed company with headquarters in Allerød. The company, a property developer and project property-construction company, coordinates building projects. As a project construction developer, the company does not own any construction vehicles, etc. This means that the company only has 71 employees and has a revenue of approx. $500 million USD (2005). The company made $62 million USD in profit for 2005 and had a market value on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange of approx. DKK 6 mia. ($1 billion USD - end of first quarter 2006)
Allerød has a large concentration of technology companies in its industrial zones at the outskirts of the city. Hewlett-Packard's Danish headquarter is in Allerød. IBM has a large facility in Blovstrød, just outside Allerød.
Allerød has two world famous chair producers: 1. Fritz Hansen 2. PP-Møbler
Notable people
