True to its name, Alliance Pharmacy's former parent company Alliance Unichem is a big fan of alliances. Its latest, a merger with the UK's #1 drugstore operator Boots Group, has created a new company called Alliance Boots. As a result, Alliance Pharmacy has traded its third-tier status in England's drugstore market to become a member of the leading team and Boots-brand products can now be found on its shelves. Indeed, the stores are in the process of being renamed "Your Local Boots Pharmacy." The company operates more than 1,000 shops throughout the country. Founded by pharmacist Edgar Moss in 1915, Alliance Pharmacy (formerly Moss Pharmacy) was acquired by drug distributor Alliance UniChem in 1991.
