Almost Married is not based on the stage seriocomedy of the same name. Instead, it was adapted by June Mathis and Luther Reed from Reed's short story His Father's Wife. May Allison plays a Swiss waitress who falls in love with visiting American Walter Percival. May heads to the USA in search of her new beau, but instead finds success as a vaudeville singer. After a brief flirtation with Percival's stuffed-shirt papa Frank Currier, May ends up with the Right Guy. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
