Jeitteles, Alois (Brünn, now Brno, 1794-1858, Brünn), after studying medicine at Prague, Brünn, and Vienna, spent his life as a physician at Brünn. His comedies included a parody of fate tragedy (see Schicksalstragödie) written jointly with I. F. Castelli (Der Schicksalsstrumpf, pseudonymously attributed to ‘die Brüder Fatalis’). He is now only remembered as the author of the six poems grouped as An die ferne Geliebte, which were set as a cycle by Beethoven in 1816.
