Marketing Dictionary:

alternate weeks

Instructions given to a radio or television station or to a newspaper to run a commercial or advertisement for a period of one week, skip a week, and then run it again for a week; abbreviated A/W. Under this method the advertiser pays for a two-week exposure, although the advertising message will actually run over a three-week period.
