Alzamay (Russian: Алзама́й) is a town in Irkutsk Oblast, Russia, located on the Toporok River (Angara River's basin) 600 kilometers (370 mi) northwest of Irkutsk. Population: 6,751 (2010 Census preliminary results);[3] 7,383 (2002 Census);[4] 9,029 (1989 Census).[6]

It was founded in 1899 as a settlement around Alzamay railway station.[citation needed] Town status was granted to it in 1955.[citation needed]
Alzamay is administratively incorporated separately from Nizhneudinsky District; however, it is municipally incorporated within Nizhneudinsky Municipal District as Alzamayskoye Urban Settlement.[2]
