For many years, a diagnosis of Alzheimer's could only mean a long journey of gradual decline. The patient would need continual care, with little hope for improvement. However, as Alzheimer's: The Tangled Mind makes clear, researchers have discovered new treatments that allow hope for those affected by this terrible disease. New drug therapies help to relieve certain symptoms. An experimental method of CAT scanning can show very early signs of developing Alzheimer's, and treatment can begin sooner.
