Sall, Amadou Lamine (b. 1951), works in the Senegalese Ministry of Culture and is a fervent admirer of Senghor's work. His own poetry is characterized by striking imagery (e.g. the title of his second collection, Comme un iceberg en flammes, 1982) reflecting his rejection of the world created by his elders and his determination to build a new social order based on love. ‘Pas une nation n'a pris comme idéologie l'amour’, he notes in his first work, Mante des aurores (1979), in which he expresses confidence in the power of love and of the new generation of poets to rebuild Africa.
