Amalapuram (Telugu: అమలాపురం) is a town in East Godavari district in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. It is the headquarters of Godavari delta named Konaseema, the triangle formed by the waters of Godavari. These lands (Black cotton soil) are highly fertile for growing crops like coconut and paddy. Kakinada and Rajahmundry are the two connecting cites to Amalapuram. It is the Lok Sabha Constituency from where the former Lok Sabha Speaker Late Sri Ganti Mohana Chandra Balayogi was elected. Located in this town are the famous temples of Lord Venkateswara, Lord Subrahmanyeswara and Lord Chandramouliswara. This town is known for its Vedic culture and its development.

Amalapuram's own retail market Muslim street is growing in a greater phase. It has got all new H&A store, which is pretty famous in India and prices are quiet reasonable. There is rumor of opening of more such outlets in the town. Now Amalapuram people can get a taste of organised retail and branded readymade range.

Educational Institutes

  • Amalapuram has a very well established infrastructure for education. It has institutions that offer courses from KG to PG. The famous SKBR (Sri Konaseema Banoji Ramars) College has a significant historical background and has produced many great people that served Mother India. The person who mainly fought for establishing the college was Mr. Bhamidipati Venkata Avadhanulu, as when he was in early 18's he made a revolution and collected money, land etc. and also got support from the local people.
  • There a Medical College and Hospital, Konaseema Institute of Medical Sciences. It is providing free medical services to the poor and needy. It is also providing Free Medical Transportation Services to many villages nearby. It is located near Amalapuram and is affiliated to NTR University of Health Sciences. It is a part of the prestigious 'Chaitanya Group of Educational Institutions', East Godavari for which Shri Chaitanya Satyanarayana Raju is the Founder Chairman.
  • There are many engineering colleges, namely BVC Group like BVC engineering college(Odalarevu),B.V.C. Institute of Technology and Science(Amalapuram)BVC College of Engineering(Rajahmundry), Prasiddha college of engineering & technology, Anathavaram; AIMS College of Engineering,Technology Village, Mummidivaram, Srinivasa Institute of Engineering & Technology, near Cheyyaru village, affiliated to JNTU-Kakinada.
  • B.V.C. Engineering college (Odalarevu),is the first private Engineering college in Eastgodavari District, which offers courses in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Computers,Civil and Information Technology, and M.Tech & M.C.A
  • B.V.C. Institute of Technology and Science offers courses in Electrical, Electronics, Computers and Information Technology, and post graduation courses MBA and MCA.
  • Amalapuram has excellent schools like Montessori Public school, Gita Vidyalaya E.M. high school, Z.P. Boys High School and Z.P.Girls High School, St. John's High School, Sree Konaseema Residential School,Paramjyothi Public School, Sri Vidyavan, Best Convent (now Aditya), Mother Teresa Public School various other private and Government schools.

  • It is nearly 12 km from Amalapuram and Lord Shiva temples in Mukteswaram and Kotipalli, and also there is a temple in Palagummi of Lord Shiva.
