Amanpour is a global affairs interview television program hosted by Christiane Amanpour, airing weeknights 9 pm and 11 pm CET on CNN International (CNNI). The show first aired on CNNI and CNN/US from September 2009, but ended in April 2010 due to Amanpour's departure from the network to ABC News. In 2011, Amanpour returned to CNN under an arrangement that allowed her to continue as a global affairs anchor at ABC News. As a result, the show returned on April 16, 2012.

The weekday program has three segments. The first is called The Brief., in which Amanpour tells a story from a different perspective, and often adds her personal experiences. The second one is typically with a high profile news maker or politician. The final segment is called Imagine a World, which usually aims to tell a story from the past.
When Amanpour is reporting in the field, she anchors the entire program remotely.
The show has featured a number of high profile interviews, including Robert Mugabe, Jacob Zuma, Queena Rania, Son of Hamas author Mosab Hassan Yousef, Isaeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak, a rare joint interview with Sec. of State Hillary Clinton and Sec. of Defense Bob Gates, an unprecedented joint interview with the U.N. Ambassadors to India, Afghanistan and Pakistan, Mohamed ElBaradei, Hans Blix, NATO Secretary General Rasmussen, Gen. McChrystal, the first-ever joint interview with media power couple Tina Brown and Harry Evans, Gen. David Petraeus, and the then Vice President, now President of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan.
Amanpour. debuted on September 21, 2009 on CNN International. It airs weekdays on CNN International and Sundays on CNN/US.[2] The show's first run ended in April 2010 after Amanpour departed CNN to host This Week on American network ABC.[3]
Upon her return to the network in 2011, CNN International relaunched Amanpour. The series returned on April 16, 2012 and airs weekdays in the afternoon in North America and during primetime in Europe.[4]
In the afternath of the Haiti earthquake in January 2010, Amanpour interviewed the Haitian Prime Minister Jean-Max Bellerive and President, both sharing one microphone and an earpiece with Amanpour fluently switching between French and English.
On the January 10, 2010 edition of the program, Israeli opposition leader and former Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni told Amanpour that she was willing to face arrest over a UK warrant. When Amanpour questioned her, Livni cut her off and said, "For me, this is not a question."[5]
