Queen Amarindra (1737-1826), (Thai: สมเด็จพระอมรินทราบรมราชินี) was the Queen Consort of King Buddha Yodfa Chulaloke (Rama I), the founder of the Chakri Dynasty. Her birth name was Nak (นาค). She was a daughter of a wealthy Mon [1] from Bang Chang, in Samut Songkhram Province.
Born in 1737 as an minor Ayutthayan noble, Amarindra married the future King Rama I, when he was still an ordinary soldier called Thong Duang around 1760. She bore him a total of ten children during her lifetime; this included the future king, Prince Isarasundhorn (or King Rama II). She was made Queen in 1782 when husband proclaim himself King of Siam. She was elevated to the title Somdet Phra Amarindra Borommarachini (Thai: สมเด็จพระอมรินทราบรมราชินี). During her lifetime she oversaw building of two temples, one dedicated to her mother. She died in 1826 at the age of 89 in the Grand Palace in Bangkok.
