[ahm-baw-NAY] An important wine-producing village located in the Montagne de Reims area of France's champagne region. Ambonnay, whose vineyards are planted with pinot noir is one of only seventeen villages to have obtained a grand cru rating of 100 percent (see champagne for explanation of percent system).
