Call it an AMEC-able split: engineering and construction giant AMEC is spinning off and selling its construction and infrastructure operations in five separate units. The company is concentrating on the core businesses of natural resources (oil sands, oil and gas, and minerals), power and process (industrial and nuclear), and earth and environmental services. AMEC's services include consulting, design, project management, and maintenance of oil, nuclear, and mining operations (deBeers in Canada is one of its biggest clients, as are Shell and other oil companies) as well as in the wind, water, and geotechnical sectors. It provides infrastructure maintenance and design to the power industry as well.
