Amergin, the name given to several legendary poets in medieval Irish literature, signifying wonderful birth. Amergin is included in pseudo-historical accounts of the settlement of the Gaels in Ireland as found in Lebor Gabála. Coming ashore, he sings a cosmic hymn in which he identifies himself with the whole of creation.
