Plot

While the White House continues to attract many tourists who visit Washington, D.C., visitors will find that some of the city's most attractive mansions are found off of Pennsylvania Avenue. A&E introduces viewers to the handsome Tudor Place built by Thomas and Martha Curtis Peter. Mrs. Peter was the granddaughter of Martha Washington. The Tudor Place's singular architecture is beautifully offset by the acres of gardens that surround it. Equally elegant is the Christian Heurich Mansion built by a German immigrant who arrived in America shortly after the Civil War ended. Its carved wooden fireplaces are considered ornate works of art. Lastly, explore the Anderson House known for its Renaissance Revival-style architecture. Its French and English drawing rooms recall an era of craftsmanship and decadence. ~ Elizabeth Smith, Rovi
