The American Academy of Neurology (AAN) is a professional society for neurologists and neuroscientists. As a medical specialty society it was established in 1949 by A.B. Baker of the University of Minnesota to advance the art and science of neurology, and thereby promote the best possible care for patients with neurological disorders. It is currently based in Saint Paul, Minnesota.

Annual Meeting The annual meeting of the AAN is attended by more than 15,000 neurologists and neuroscientists from the US and abroad. The 2011 meeting will be in Honolulu featuring scientific presentations and educational courses. Plenary presentations on three days will highlight cutting edge clinical, translational and basic research. The annual "Future of Neuroscience" conference will highlight advances in the Alzheimer Disease Neuroimaging (ADNI) project ([1]).
