American Advisors Group (AAG) is a lender in the reverse mortgage industry.[1] Founded in 2004, AAG provides government insured HECM (Home Equity Conversion Mortgage) loans and has 81 areas approved for business, covering all 50 states.[2] According to Reverse Market Insight (2011) AAG is ranked among the top reverse mortgage retail originators in the country.[3] American Advisors Group is A+ rated by the Better Business Bureau,[4] is a U.S Department of Housing and Urban Development approved Lender,[2] and a member of the National Reverse Mortgage Lenders Association.[5]

As of January 2012, AAG is operating in 37 states, covering more than 85% of the U. S. senior population.[2]

Reza Jahangiri is founder and CEO of American Advisors Group. Jahangiri is a board member of CIS (Coalition of Independent Seniors)[6] and has also served as CEO and President of several healthcare services and healthcare companies prior to entering the reverse mortgage business.

History

American Advisors Group was founded in 2004 by Reza Jahangiri.[7]

In June 2009, the company received an initial institutional investment of $4MM from JAM Equity Partners. JAM is a private equity firm with reverse mortgage domain experience.[8]

On October 7, 2009, American Advisors Group (AAG) selected film and television actor Peter Graves as its spokesperson.[9]

On March 11, 2010, American Advisors Group announced the activation of a 10MM warehouse facility specifically for the funding of Reverse Mortgages (HECM). The new funding line and “full eagle” allows AAG to act as a Mortgage Banker.[10][11]

In May 2010, Former Senator, Fred Thompson, became the spokesman for American Advisors Group.[12]

In August, 2010, AAG launched their Q & A website.[13]

As of January 2012, AAG employs more than 170 people with their headquarters located in Orange County, California.[2]

Beginning in January 2012, Reza Jahangiri, CEO of AAG Reverse took over The Reverse Review, a magazine dedicated to the reverse mortgage product by advancing the availability and the quality of the reverse mortgage product.[14]

On October 7, 2009, American Advisors Group (AAG) selected film and television actor Peter Graves as its spokesperson for a national media campaign beginning Oct. 12, 2009. The new commercials promoted the value and benefits of reverse mortgages for American seniors and aired on cable and national networks.[9]

Peter Graves’ appearance was the second-half of a two-part national TV campaign which began in September by the company – a campaign that is replete with personalized stories of how reverse mortgages have provided much needed relief from their current financial hardship. The new series of TV ads coincides with the reverse mortgage originator’s release of a new informational DVD, brochure and website launch.[9]

In May 2010, Former Senator, Fred Thompson, became the spokesman for American Advisors Group. Thompson is an attorney, actor, author and commentator. He remains active in politics and the national debate, and hosts a nationally syndicated radio show.[12]

Fred Thompson is featured in AAG’s national TV campaign, their website, and their customer information packets and DVDS. Thompson’s commercials also promote the value and benefits of reverse mortgages for American seniors and air on cable and national networks.[12]
