American Century Celebrity Golf Classic

The American Century Championship is the premier celebrity golf tournament, held during the second full week of July at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course in Stateline, Nevada, on the shores of Lake Tahoe. The event is known not only for exciting golf, but also as an opportunity for the public to mingle with celebrities and also a favorite event for autograph seekers.

Rick Rhoden (8), Dan Quinn (4), Billy Joe Tolliver (3) and Jack Wagner (2) are the only celebrities who have won the tournament more than once. Actor Wagner is the only non-professional athlete to have won the event.

The 2011 tournament was held on July 15-17.

History

The first tournament was held in 1990 and sponsored by NBC, who broadcasts the second and third round coverage. Starting in 1991, Isuzu sponsored the tournament until 1998. American Century Investments is the current title sponsor since 1999.

From 1990 to 2003, the tournament used a stroke play format. Starting with the 2004 tournament, the modified stableford format has been used.
