The American Constitution Party was originally formed as the American Tax Payers Union in 1991. It is now the Colorado affiliate of the national party known as the Constitution Party and is based in Arvada. The Constitution Party is a loose affiliation of state parties that fall under the national party umbrella.

Their current slogan is "Principles over Politics." According to the national organization's platform page "The goal of the Constitution Party is to restore American jurisprudence to its Biblical foundations and to limit the federal government to its Constitutional boundaries."[1]
