When baby Matthew Eappen was born, his mother always assumed she would go back to work. Months later she did just that, hiring a young woman from England, Louise Woodward, to look after him. She was shocked one day when the police called to say her son had gone into a coma and was experiencing brain hemorrhage. Upon his death five days later, medical examiners found skull fractures that were a result of a blow to the head. The subsequent arrest, trial, and conviction of the British au pair became a media circus with an equal number of defenders and accusers. She was sentenced to 15 years, but her conviction was later reduced to manslaughter and then to time served. Woodward is now fighting to clear her name altogether. ~ Sarah Ing, Rovi
