Plot

One of a handful of non-NASCAR programs aired by cable's Speed Vision network, the weekly, half-hour American Muscle Car was also one of that network's highest-rated programs. Each episode featured one of more of "Detroit's finest muscle machines"--that is, the automobiles which not only captured the imagination of racing aficionados when they originally rolled off the assembly line, but also proved the most popular to those who enjoyed restoring vintage cars. Covering a period from the mid-1960s to the early 1970s, the series spotlighted such classics as the Corvette, the Camaro, the Thunderbolt, the Barricuda, the Pontiac GTO, the El Camino, the Dodge Charger, the Buick Regal and the Plymouth Roadrunner, detailing the "life" of each vehicle in loving detail. Season One of the Speed Vision network's American Muscle Car offers twelve half-hour episodes, each one a paean to one or more of the classiest classic cars ever to roll off a Detroit assembly line, and to the devoted aficionados who spend their waking hours restoring and racing those cars. Among the models highlighted this season are the Pontiac GTO, the GTO Judge, the 1953-62 vintage Chevy Corvette, the 1967-69 Chevy Camaro SS 396, the 1964 Ford Fairlane Thunderbolt, the Mustang Shelby GT-350, the Buick Gran Sport, the 1969-71 Hurst Olds, the Chevelle SS396 and 454, the 1961-64 Chevy Impala, the Plymouth Hemi Cuda, and the Dodge Hemi Challenger.
