American Newspaper Publishers Association (ANPA)

Trade association for daily and nondaily newspaper publishers in the United States and Canada. Founded in 1887 and headquartered in Reston, Virginia (just outside of Washington, D.C.), the ANPA has a current membership of 1400 publications. Its primary function is to advance the cause of a free press and to encourage the advancement of the newspaper publishing business while promoting the highest standards of journalism. In 1992, ANPA merged with other organizations to form the Newspaper Association of America.
