Escola Americana de Brasília (American School of Brasília or EAB) provides a U.S. and Brazilian accredited pre-K through twelfth grade curriculum. EAB is an English-language school operated using American-style pedagogy. The school is open to students of all nationalities.
The school was founded in 1961 when Brazil's planned capital Brasília opened. It is a private, coeducational, day school governed by a self-perpetuating Board of Directors. The U.S. Ambassador appoints one member. The school is administered by a headmaster, three principals, and a director of Brazilian studies.

Curriculum
The curriculum is college-preparatory. EAB's vision statement values five pillars. They are: academics, arts, leadership, service learning, and activities. The school is fully accredited by the Brazilian Ministry of Education and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. EAB awards both the American diploma and Brazilian diploma. The school is currently implementing the International Baccalaureate.
In 2008-09 EAB was home to 35 different athletic teams, clubs, and other activities. That year the school boasted 65 full-time teachers of whom 35 were U.S. citizens.
Facilities
The school is located in Asa Sul. The five-acre campus enjoys a panoramic view of Lake Paranoá. Between June and August 2009 the campus underwent extensive renovation. The gymnasium and outdoor spaces were major focuses of the project. The campus features several interconnected buildings that house 45 classrooms, 3 science laboratories, 3 computer laboratories, a library, and a Center for the Arts.
EAB has a full-service cafeteria and separate snack bar. The campus also houses a regulation soccer pitch, two playgrounds, a covered basketball court, and fully equipped gymnasium.
