aminergic
describing a receptor that is activated by a specific (biogenic) amine. The term is usually applied to nerves that act by releasing a monoamine (norepinephrine, dopamine, or 5-hydroxytryptamine) from their nerve endings. Compare adrenergic, cholinergic, dopaminergic, peptidergic, purinergic, serotonergic.
