1. A son of Ram of the family of Hezron of the tribe of Judah and the father of Nahshon who was the leader of the tribe in the wilderness (I Chr 2:5, 9-10). His daughter Elisheba was the wife of Aaron (Ex 6:23). He was an ancestor of King David (Ruth 4:19-22), and of Jesus (Matt 1:4, 16; Luke 3:23, 33).

2. A son of Kohath and the father of Korah (I Chr 6:22) in the genealogy of the Levites (in verse 38 he is listed as Izhar, as well as in Ex 6:21).

3. A Levite, head of the family of the sons of Uzziel and among those chosen by David to carry the ark to Jerusalem (I Chr 15:10-12).
